Met this guy Charlie today on the bus
Told me a story quite in a rush
Until last night he thought life was dull
Wake up , go to work, dinner then bore
He thought there must be more to life
He thought he should try
Get out once and check out the night
Now this Charlie doesn't get out a lot
he rode his bike downtown - believe it or not
went from bar to bar search for a clue
Charlie didn't know what to do
then up ahead a big red door
said " The Blues Bar" , that was all
Charlie went in , stepped back in time
up on a stage , jamming was live
Charlie sat down , ordered a drink
A hooded lady quickly took the next seat
He felt so nervous like never before
His whiskey arrived , he drank it all
Next thing he knows he 's up on his feet
Dancing , swinging , he wasn't fit
The hooded lady wrapped his hand
then came more of them
A circle around him touching his face
Charlie was shocked , couldn't believe
Then suddenly it was all gone
Charlie woke up , in his briefs no phone
Didn't know what happened happened to him
He went back to the streets confused, searching
found the red door, no blues - nothing
just a sweet vendor humming a tune
About the blues bar , hooded ladies and their prey
About the blues bar
Things are never as they seem at the blues bar yeah
Very british, very seventies, very good...somewhere in between Fairport Convention, Genesis, Camel and Renaissance. A great album. I love it. Martin Neuhold
